From Saturday, 18 July to Sunday, 16 August 2026, the seventh edition of Vëlosummer will take place. This year’s 14 Vëlosummer routes reveal hidden gems, stunning landscapes and unforgettable experiences along the way.

Vëlosummer (literally “Bike Summer”) is an annual, month-long cycling festival in Luxembourg that turns the country into a massive playground for cyclists.
Organized by the government and local tourism boards, the event typically runs from mid-July to mid-August.
What Makes It Cool?
- Car-Free Streets: For specific periods during the month, entire public roads and scenic routes are closed to motorized traffic and reserved exclusively for cyclists.
- Diverse Routes: They set up multiple official cycling tours across different regions of the country. These range from easy, flat rides perfect for families to more challenging terrain for avid cyclists.
- The “Bike + Rail” Connection: The national railway company (CFL) usually pairs up with the event, making it incredibly easy to take your bike on the train for free to reach different starting points across the country.
- Festive Atmosphere: Towns along the routes often host food stalls, entertainment, and rest stops, turning it into a summer-long community celebration.
- The Vëlosummer Challenge: There is often an official app where riders can check into different locations along the routes to collect digital badges and win prizes (like exclusive cycling jerseys).
