The 2026 EKF Senior Karate Championships (the 61st edition of the continental tournament) take place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from May 20 to May 24, 2026.
The event is hosted at the Frankfurt Ice Sports Hall (Eissporthalle Frankfurt) and uniquely integrates the Para-Karate European Championships concurrently into the schedule.
General Program Structure of the 2026 EKF Senior Karate Championships
Karate 
The championships follow a classic EKF multi-day progression, beginning with the individual technical disciplines, moving into heavy contact eliminations, and wrapping up the final weekend with bronze medal and championship bouts.
Wednesday, May 20
- Focus: Individual Kata & Early Kumite Eliminations
- Highlights: The tournament kicks off with the Individual Male and Female Kata competitions. It is followed by the preliminary rounds for select individual weight categories in Kumite.
Thursday, May 21
- Focus: Continuing Kumite & Team Technicals
- Highlights: Extended elimination rounds for the remaining individual Kumite weight divisions (ranging from Female -50kg up to Male +84kg). The preliminary rounds for Team Kata (Male and Female) also begin on this day.
Friday, May 22
- Focus: Team Kumite & Para-Karate
- Highlights: A massive day for team strategies as the Team Kumite elimination rounds take over the tatami. Additionally, this day features the dedicated Para-Karate classifications and competitions across multiple categories (including K21/K22 intellectually impaired classes).
Saturday, May 23
- Focus: Bronze Medal Matches & Final Sessions (Part 1)
- Highlights: The atmosphere intensifies as athletes fight for the podium. The day is dedicated to the Bronze Medal bouts for all individual categories, alongside the first set of Gold Medal matches and official podium ceremonies.
Sunday, May 24
- Focus: Grand Finals & Closing Ceremony
- Highlights: The pinnacle of the tournament, featuring the highly anticipated Team Finals (Team Kata and Team Kumite) and the remaining premier Individual Gold Medal matches. The event concludes with the final medal ceremonies and the official EKF closing protocol.
