Luxembourg Rugby
For the 2025/2026 season, the Luxembourg menโs national team is competing in the Rugby Europe Conference (specifically Group A).
This is the third tier of European international rugby, below the Championship (where the top 8 teams play) and the Trophy division. Luxembourg was relegated from the Trophy division last season and is currently working to gain promotion back to that level.
Luxembourg’s Current Position (Conference Group A)
The “Red Lions” have had a dominant start to their 2025/2026 campaign. They currently sit at the top of their group after two major wins:
- Luxembourg 60 โ 6 Norway (October 2025)
- Luxembourg 93 โ 0 Estonia (December 2025)

Latvia Forfeit โ Luxembourg Awarded 28โ0 Victory
Luxembourg Rugby has today been informed by Rugby Europe that the Latvian Rugby Federation has withdrawn with immediate effect from the Rugby Europe Menโs XV Conference 2026.
As a result, the Conference Pool A fixture scheduled between Latvia and Luxembourg on 18 April 2026 has been officially declared a forfeit by Latvia.
In accordance with the competition regulations, Rugby Europe has confirmed the following official result:
Luxembourg 28 โ 0 Latvia
Luxembourg is awarded five competition points, and the Pool A standings will be updated accordingly.
This decision follows the earlier notification received from the Latvian Rugby Federation confirming that they would not travel to Luxembourg to fulfil the fixture.
This outcome is a significant disappointment for the Luxembourg national team, who have not been together since their historic victory over Estonia in December 2025.
Jean-Franรงois Boulot expressed the collective frustration felt across the organisation:
โThe disappointment is evident, not only among the players but also across the entire staff and the many volunteers who have worked tirelessly to prepare this event.โ
National Head Coach James Kent also shared his reaction:
โThis match was an important opportunity for us. It would have been our only chance to bring the full squad together ahead of our upcoming fixtures against Finland, making it crucial for team preparation and cohesion.โ
Note on Women’s Rugby: The Luxembourg women’s national team is not currently listed in the top-tier Women’s Rugby Europe Championship for 2026 (which features teams like Spain, Netherlands, and Belgium). They typically compete in the lower Women’s Conference levels during their active seasons.
